Gorse fire brought under control near Loughanure

Fire fighters from Dungloe were called to an overnight gorse fire near Loughanure village.

The fire was first observed before midnight and burned rapidly through bogland near the old railway line between Loughanure and Cruckakeehan.

Breezy conditions at the time meant the fire spread quickly but it was brought under control by the firefighters just after 1am.

It is not known what caused the fire in the area where there are no houses and little passing traffic.
