Yesterday was an unforgettable day for the students of Crana College, Donegal, who after winning a Sky Sports Living for Sport competition last October, had the opportunity to have an exclusive GAA masterclass from Dublin GAA star Bernard Brogan.
The students got to see first-hand the key skills that have made Bernard a four-time All-Ireland winner.
Bernard was joined by Sky Sports Living for Sport’s Athlete Mentors and Gaelic Footballers, Cora Staunton and Kevin Conlan, who shared with the students their top tips during a shooting practice session.
The students later had the opportunity to put the skills they had learnt to the test with Bernard joining them in a game.
Speaking at the masterclass, Bernard said: “It’s been a brilliant day here with the students of Crana College.
“Everyone was really keen to get involved and it was great to see how their confidence grew over the day. I can see first-hand how being part of Sky Sports Living for Sport has inspired them to be the very best they can be.”
Before they made their way back to Donegal, Staunton also shared her own inspirational story with the group, showing students that anything is possible – they just need to be given the opportunity to unlock potential.
Since the launch of Sky Sports Living for Sport in Ireland back in 2014, more than 250 secondary schools have participated, with thousands of students experiencing the positive impact that sport can have on life outside of the game.
Sky Sports Living for Sport is part of Sky Academy, which works with young people to build skills and experience using the things we both love; TV, Creativity and Sport. Bringing schools and inspirational role models together, it’s supported by our people who volunteer and well known faces from our TV Channels, to offer a range of opportunities.
