A man was literally sitting on a stash of drugs when Gardai raided his home in Letterkenny.
Conor Friel appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply.
The court heard how Gardai arrived at Friel’s flat at 83c Lower Main Street on December 11th, 2015 with a search warrant.
They found a small bag of cannabis herb worth €50.
However, they discovered that Friel, aged 25, had €779 worth of cannabis resin stuffed down his sofa and he was sitting on it.
When quizzed by Gardai, Friel admitted that he was supplying friends with €30 strips of the cannabis resin.
Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was not selling the drugs to his friends but was supplying it.
He said his client had a difficulty with soft drugs and was very apologetic to Gardai.
He added that Friel was trying to start an access course at LYIT to complete his Leaving Cert and wanted to do electronics eventually.
Judge Paul Kelly adjourned the case until May 22nd for a probation report on Friel.
