In their latest Red C Poll, The Sunday Business Post report that support for Sinn Féin has hit the highest level it has been in a year, with the party up five points to 19% since the last poll they conducted a month ago.
Fianna Fáil are still the most popular party 7 points ahead of Sinn Féin with 26% support.
Surprisingly Fine Gael have remained unchanged with support at 24%, despite recent disagreements about leadership of the party.
A surge in popularity for Sinn Féin can be attributed to their repeated calls for an election following times of political difficulty and the recent motion of no confidence in the coalition government and its handling of the smear on Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.
Moreover, Independents are on 10%, 1 point down while the Anti Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit have risen by 2 points, reaching 6%. Labour dropped a point, down to 4%.
The Independent Alliance and Social Democrats are on 3% whereas the Green Party remain on 4%, and Renua on 1%.
