Martin McHugh has sensationally stepped down as the Kilcar senior team manager.
McHugh is understood to have informed the club of his decision following thei Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta defeat by Gaoth Dobhair in Towney yesterday, when Odhrán Mac Niallais posted 3-5 as Gaoth Dobhair won by 4-12 to 2-9.
McHugh took the reigns in Kilcar for 2016 when he guided the club to a first Donegal SFC final since 1993.
Kilcar were favourites to win Dr Maguire, but they were beaten by Glenswilly in the final.
Kilcar did win Division One of the all-County Football League and McHugh subsequently agreed to another year in the hotseat.
