Galway RAG week is just getting started and Donegal Tuesday has kicked off in the city as hundreds of students gather to celebrate the unofficial event.
The tradition sees students dressing in their Donegal jerseys and flocking to the Hole In The Wall pub early in the morning. The celebrations last until late into the night and usually wind up in a party surrounding fast food restaurants in Eyre Square.
Gardai issued a warning to revellers to say that they will be taking a no-nonsense approach to any misbehaviour this year. There will be officers in place to clamp down on antisocial behaviour.
Today’s queues stretched along the city streets outside the Hole In The Wall from as early as 9am this morning. Photos and video footage from the area showed students eagerly waiting behind barriers to get into the bar.
They were allowed entry after 11am and are now said to be safely inside from the rain.
