Two Finn Harps underage players, goalkeeper Jamie Bell and the versatile Shane Blaney who can play in defense or midfield have been named in the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys squad for the International Centenary Shield competition which starts next Thursday afternoon against Wales at the Home Farm grounds in Dublin.
Bell is a pupil at St. Columba’s College, Stranorlar while Blaney is a student at St. Eunan’s College in Letterkenny.
Both were members of the Harps U17 side that reached the semi-finals of the National League last season with Blaney captaining the team.
With just a squad of 18 named Donegal is well represented with Ramelon lad Connor Gormley also getting the nod from international manager Paddy O’Reilly following a final trial game in Dublin on Thursday night.
The other three games for the Irish boys sees them travel to Northern Ireland and Scotland before completing the campaign at home to England.
