Enya has been nominated in the Best New Age Album category of the prestigious Grammy Awards for 2017.
If successful, this will be Enya’s fifth Grammy!
On top of her success at the Grammys over her incredible career, Enya has bagged six World Music Awards, an Ivor Novello, and has been nominated in the category of Best Original Song in both the Oscars and Golden Globes with her song ‘May it Be’ which appeared in the ‘Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’.
Her eighth studio album ‘Dark Sky Island’ is up against John Burke’s ‘Orogen’, Peter Kater & Tina Guo’s ‘Inner Passion’, Vangelis’ ‘Rosetta’, and White Sun’s ‘White Sun II’.
Released in November 2015, ‘Dark Sky Island’ reached number four in the UK charts, Enya’s highest charting album since ‘Shepherd Moons’ in 1991.
The album proved popular further away from home too, with it peaking at number eight in the Billboard 200 in the USA.
The 59th annual Grammy awards will be hosted by James Corden and will take place tomorrow evening in the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Although the awards ceremony won’t be broadcast in Ireland, E! entertainment channel will be covering the night (available on Sky, Virgin and BT) from 11pm.
