Young brothers awarded €30,000 after car hits lampost

February 8, 2017

Two brothers whose car struck a lampost have both been awarded €15,000.

The accident happened in Letterkenny on St Stephen’s Day in 2014 when the car in which they were back-seated passengers hit the lamp-post.

The boys suffered soft tissue injuries to their necks and shoulders and were prevented

The boys, who are now aged 12 and 13, appeared along with their father at Letterkenny Circuit Civil Court.

Offers of €13,000 were initially made to the boys but this was deemed a “little light” by the boys legal team and renewed offers of €15,000 were made.

The boys did not suffer any long-term injuries but were restricted from physical activities for a term.

Judge Martin Nolan agreed to recommend the offers which he described as “very good offers.”

He also awarded costs to the boys’ counsel.
