Motormouth soccer pundit Eamon Dunphy has apologised to Seamus Coleman for questioning if he was good enough to lead the Irish soccer team.
The RTE commentator admitted that he didn’t think the Killybegs had what it took to captain the Boys in Green.
But he now admits that the Everton star has proved him wrong after Martin O’Neill gave the Donegal man the skipper’s armband.
“I was sceptical over Coleman taking on the Ireland captaincy as he hadn’t struck me as a lead in waiting.
“But I was wrong. Coleman has been brilliant, for both club and country. He’s a level-headed character, who doesn’t come out with b*******t.
“Listen to his interviews and he talks plenty of sense. Ireland are lucky to have him. So are Everton,” gushed Dunphy.
Donegal County Council last week passed a motion that the Freedom of Donegal be bestowed on the soccer star.
