The second race of the Daly’s XL 3 Race Spring Series takes place in Strabane tomorrow morning.
Two weeks ago, a big crowd of nearly 300 took to the start line in Carrigans to kickstart the Series for 2017, with the race won by All-Ireland Novice Cross Country Champion, John Paul Williamson from Derry.
In its sixth year, the Series has gone from strength to strength and is an ideal start to the New Year for many runners and joggers.
Sundays race will see the Series travel to Strabane for the first time, with the new 5K route a course on which fast times can be expected.
With points awarded at each race across a wide range of race categories, most of those who ran in Carrigans are expected in Strabane on Sunday, with many newcomers also expected to take to the start line.
For those who entered and paid for the 3 races, a separate desk will have numbers and chips pre-allocated.
For the others who ran in Carrigans and who wish to run on Sunday, a unique number will be sent by text to speed up race entry on the morning.
A separate registration desk will be in operation for anyone who is running Strabane and new to the Series.
Registration and refreshments will be at the Melvin Sports Centre on Bridge Street from 8.45am to 10.00am. The race will start at 10.15am.
As a mark of respect to our colleague Kevin Boyle who sadly passed away last week, a minutes silence will be held for Kevin before the
race.
Hopefully we will have yet another good race on Sunday, which will build up towards the Grand Finale in Lifford on the 12th February.
