Glencar Celtic 4 Arranmore United 0
On a glorious day in Rathmullan Glencar hosted last year’s League winners Arranmore. The home side showed they were in the mood for it right from the off with Kevin Rafferty and Declan Scanlon going close early on. Glencar took the lead when Eddie Mc Laughlin started the rout finishing off from close range.
Glencar doubled the lead from the spot after good work by Rory Gallagher who was fouled in the box. Garvan Grieve converted into the top corner. Glencar went into the break 2-0 up. Glencar got two more very good team goals with good work down the left from Rory Gallagher who won a corner. Grieve turned provider this time as his deep corner was met by Liam Doherty who’s looping header caught everyone out and found the corner of the net.
Glencar were relentless in their pressing and we’re rewarded again and finished the game off as a contest shortly after the restart with Grieve and Gallagher combining again down left and Grieve second assist of the day was met by sub Kieran Doherty who buried his chance with a fine header. Best for Glencar Kevin Rafferty & Garvan Grieve. Referee: Michael Mulhern
Orchard F.C. 2 Drumbar F.C. 1
Orchard hosted Drumbar at Letterkenny Community Centre it was an entertaining game. Orchard took the lead though a fine cross from Micheal Sweeney for Luke Friel who tapped home.
Drumbar kept the pressure on but lost the ball to Joe Mc Carron who put though Luke Friel who doubled Orchard’s lead. Drumbar pulled one back from a corner in the second half but Orchard did enough to claim all three points.
Strand Rovers 4 Dunlewey Celtic 1
A cold day bitter day was the stage on which Strand Rovers met Dunlewy where the match was anything but cold. The match started evenly as each team focused on getting the first goal and played very aggressively. Dunlewy would get first blood when a corner met Mark Roarty who with excellent skill flicked the ball into the Strand net.
This early goal did not dampen Strand’s morale and they hit back. Their persistence was rewarded when Paddy Glackin was taken down in the box and then put away his penalty to even the score. Luck would also be on their side when a long range Brendan Glackin shot was mis-controlled by Dunlewy keeper Ciaran Boyce and rolled into the net. Michael Ward then scored to leave the score at 3-1 at half time. The second half couldn’t match the first in terms of excitement as Strand took a comfortable control of the game with Darragh Hanlon scoring the fourth goal for Strand.
Dunlewy refused to give in and were nearly rewarded when Michael Roarty forced a fingertip save from Kevin McGovern the match however will be seen as a comfortable Strand victory where they were rarely troubled.

Keadue Rovers Reserves 0 Glenree United Reserves 2
Glenree Reserves went away from Central Park on Saturday with a deserved victory. On a fine day for football, it was Keadues’ Luke Neely who had the first good chance on ten minutes, when an excellent through ball from Michael Greene was met on the run but his shot went just wide. Glenree had a good chance on nineteen minutes with a shot just over the bar.
Keadue had a good spell for the next ten minutes with a number of chances for Daniel Bonner and Shaun Burns. However against the run of play on thirty three minute, Glenree took the lead when a through ball to Patrick McKeever was met with a chip over the keeper. The home side responded well with another Daniel Bonner effort, a shot cleared from the line, and a Christy Greene effort just over, they should’ve been level but Glenree through good defending held on until half time.
At the start of the second half the away side were brighter getting much more of the ball. Three minutes into the half they had a free kick well tipped over the bar by Hugh Yank Boyle and from the resulting corner another shot was well saved by Boyle but after a quick cross into the box Pauric Mc Ginty headed home. Keadue responded well with chances falling to Luke Neely and Daniel McHugh.
As the half went on the game became a bit more scrappy with Keadue having lots of possession but not having much in the way of chances thanks to Glenree’s stout defending. Damien Hanlon had a free kick on seventy five minutes while five minutes later Chris Greene had a header wide at the far post from a free kick.
Glenree had a good chance to extend their lead in the closing minutes when their full back just chipped over the bar. A good defensive performance from Glenree for whom Shaun Clyde, Patrick Mc Geever and Pauric Mc Ginty were impressive. Best for Keadue were Daniel McHugh, Michael Greene and Hugh Yank Boyle. Referee : Seimi Ferry.
Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves 1 Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 2
After a few tough weeks Drumoghill got back to winning ways in this hard fought game with Kilmacrennan. Drumoghill took the lead on five minutes when Richard Tinney won possession in midfield sending Ethan mc Cready through on goal and from twenty five yards hit what was to be the goal of the day giving the Kilmac keeper no chance.
Kilmac grew into the game after that but it wasn’t until the thirty fifth minute when they found a way in when Cathal Gallagher headed home the equaliser at the back post. Drumoghill hit back almost straight away when a Darren O’ Connor free kick was controlled on the chest by Mark Gibson before he rounded the keeper to put Drumoghill back in front.
The second half started at a high tempo with Kilmac pushing for the equaliser and Drumoghill soaking up the pressure in defence with Dylan Mc Elhinney, Travos Crawford and Eoin Mc Laughlin in excellent form for the Drumoghill. Good team performances from kilmac and Drumoghill. Referee: Liam Mc Laughlin
Glenea United Reserves 8 St. Catherines Reserves 1
Glena reserves continued their good home run with a well-earned victory over St Catherines. The home side started well and took the lead on 15 minutes when Lee O’Brien headed home an Eamonn McHugh cross. Glenea doubled their lead a minute later when Ryan Mc Fadden’s through ball released Conor Mc Clafferty and his cross was slotted home from close range by Ciaran McFadden.
Glenea extended their lead on 25 minutes when the away defence failed to deal with a long ball and Ryan McFadden took advantage of it to slide the ball home. Glenea got their 4th on 30 minutes when Lee McFadden got clear of the defence and fired in at the near post. Glenea got their 5th goal on 35 minutes when Ciaran McFadden was on hand to score from close range from another Conor Mc Clafferty cross.
Glenea’s 6th goal came from Ryan McFadden after a great through ball from Michael Mc Clafferty played him in. Glenea completed the scoring on 43 minutes when Chris Cannon saw his effort well saved but Conor Mc Clafferty was on hand to tap in the rebound. In the 2nd half the home side continued to be on top and went close to increasing their lead and did so on 70 minutes when Martin Ferry headed home from close range.
St Catherines pulled a goal back on 80 minutes when Christian McNelis scored from a tight angle after good work by Barry Cannon. Best for Glenea were Michael Mc Clafferty and Ryan McFadden, while Barry Cannon was best for St. Catherines. Referee: Marty Quinn

St. Catherines 1 Milford United 2
Milford started the brightest and exposed the St. Catherines defence within 2 minutes of the start when Johnnie Logue pounced on a loose ball from close range to score. Milford should have gone 2 up as the saints struggled to get with the pace of the game and we’re lucky only to be 1 down at the break . The ref Patrick Martin had a busier second half as the tackles started flying in.
Milford made some substitutions and looked an even stronger outfit and their dominance in mid field paid off as Joey Cullen broke through to slot the ball low under Michael Mullen to make it 2 nil on 72 minutes. Barry Rose had come on for the saints replacing Stephen Muirhead and he started to make the home team more threatening going forward.
Barry Cannon also came off the bench to replace Christopher Cunningham who had received a head injury while clearing his lines for the home team .
The saints pushed to try and salvage something from the game and Barry Cannon slotted a fine header passed the Milford keeper on 85minutes to set up a nail biting finish. Milford survived some late penalty box scrambles to hold on for the win and 3 points. Joey Cullen impressed for Milford.
Kilmacrennan Celtic 4 Castlefin Celtic 4
Kilmacrennan Celtic played hosts to the Fin men on Sunday in what was a tightly contested game. Castlefin started out the brighter and had an early goal from Corrie-lee Bogan just 9 minutes into the game. It looked like it took a goal from Castlefin to waken the Kilmac men up and their first goal came after Caolan Mc Daid was brought down in the box, Mousie scored the penalty to bring the game all even.
Corrie-lee went on to score a second goal for his side 35 minutes in to put the Fin ahead but once again this put a fire in Kilmacrennan`s belly and it only took 2 minutes for Christopher Dillon and Aidan Sweeney to bring the game level after some great one two passing. One minute before half time Mousie McLaughlin scored a peach straight from a free kick to put the home side ahead at half time. Castlefin came out fighting in the second half and were all over the Kilmacrennan men.
65 minutes in and Corrie-lee completed a hat-trick to bring the game level once again. It looked like Castlefin wanted the three points more as they kept pushing. Their efforts were rewarded five minutes later when they scored their last goal of the game.
Kilmacrennan started to fight back after that goal and managed to get an equaliser in the last minute of the game after Christopher Dillon headed home from a corner. Best for kilmac were Michael McLaughlin, Aidan Sweeney and Caolan Mc Daid. Best for Castlefin Celtic were: Corrie-lee Bogan. Referee: Mick Lagan
Convoy Arsenal 0 Drumoghill F.C. 3
Kildrum Tigers 0 Lagan Harps 1
Lagan took all 3 points from a scrappy affair at station road. Both teams huffed and puffed for the first half hour but a mishap in the Kildrum defence gave Kenny Doran an open net to finish into and he made no mistake.
Kildrum piled on the pressure in the second half and had 5 clear cut chances to put the ball in net but couldn’t manage to do so. The Lagan defence dug deep in the second half and deserved their win.
Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Erne Wanderers 1 Gweedore Celtic 0
Erne Wanderers hosted Gweedore Celtic in glorious conditions at the Lakeside Centre on Sunday and came out one nil winner’s. A minutes silence was impeccably carried out before kick off in memory of Erne footballer Shane Goan who tragically passed away last weekend. In truth Wanderers made hard work of getting the three points and should have been comfortably ahead before the final whistle but none the less will be delighted to get the three points after a horrendous run of six league games without a win.
The goal came on twenty minutes when Alan Russell played a delightful ball over the top for David Dolan to run on to and dispatch it into the net. Erne missed some glorious chances after this to add to the scoreline but couldn’t finish and Celtic were always in the game when it stayed just the one.
The second half was again bossed by the home team with David Dorrian rattling the bar from 25 yards out the closest they got and Gweedore looked very dangerous from set pieces but Wanderers’ defence held firm. Best for Erne was David Dorrian, Alan Russell and Ryan O’ Brien while Gweedore’s keeper had a good day between the sticks. Referee: Dessie Mc Laughlin
Raphoe Town 5 Glenree United 2
An entertaining game at Deele College saw Raphoe take the lead through a Christy Bogle penalty. In the 26th minute Glenree equalised with a goal by Andrew Kelly.
Glenree went in front with a Joe Bray shot. Raphoe’s Stephen Laird levelled things with a header in the 66th minute. Oliver Quinn put Raphoe back in front in the 75th minute.
Raphoe’s Tom Mc Hugh got a 4th goal before Ryan Mc Cullagh made sure of the points with a great strike from 25 yards. Great game from both teams.
Deele Harps 1 Gweedore United 2
Deele welcomed Gweedore United to The Athletic Grounds on a fine day for football and it was the home side who were on the front foot from the start. Chances came and went for the home side and those missed opportunities would come back to haunt Deele. It took until the 30th minute for Deele to open the scoring when Jordon Duffy finished well.
The introduction of young Brandon Connolly at half time, making his home debut, gave Deele another attacking spark but more poor choices from Deele in the final third kept the game alive. A free kick was awarded to Gweedore United and Jamie McGee stepped up to equalise on 75 minutes.
As Deele were rocked by this, things got worse 2 minutes later, Deele lost the ball on the halfway line and Daniel Devlin raced through a few lame challenges to finish well. Deele rallied again and had some good chances at the end, Darren Gillespie with the best chance firing wide when well placed. Team performance from Gweedore with Brandon Connolly the only positive for Deele on the day. Referee: Kevin Logue.
Keadue Rovers 3 Donegal Town 0
Keadue continued their recent fine run with an impressive win over league leaders Donegal Town at Central Park on Sunday. It was perfect conditions for a game and the visitors started the better, moving the ball round well in the first five minutes pushing up on the Keadue defence.
Keadue did start to settle a little bit but after ten minutes Aaron Slevin went close for Donegal Town from a defensive lapse in the home side. Keadue did start to create some chances with both Corey Gallagher’s long range effort and Chris Greene’s header both going wide. It was really opening up nearing the half hour with Shaun Yank Boyle going close with a header and a few minutes after Raymond Mc Groarys’ volley went just over for the away side.
In the last fifteen minutes Donegal Town had the more possession pressing the home side back with Aaron Slevins’ run down the right wing, leading to a dangerous ball into the box which slipped just wide. At the startof the second half Keadue were brighter and the first chance came two minutes in when David Wards’ free kick went just over.
On fifty one minutes Ryan Greene’s fine effort hit the bar and the follow up was missed by Shaun Yank Boyle. However on fifty three minutes, Donegal Town on their first attack of the half were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box but the resultant penalty from Raymond Mc Groary was well saved by Hugh Yank Boyle.
Just two minutes later Keadue took the lead when a ball into the box from Calum Boyle was headed in by Shaun Yank Boyle at the near post. Keadue were steady in possession and gaining the upper hand and on sixty three minutes David Ward’s shot from distance hit the bar with the rebound headed home from close range by Ryan Greene.
Donegal Town did come into things more by the seventieth minute with an effort wide on the left from Ben Sweeney. Both sides introduced subs after that as the game became a little scrappy. Corey Gallagher again had an effort for Keadue headed wide just after eighty minutes. In the eighty seventh minute Keadue sub Daniel McHugh was fouled by the Donegal Town keeper which resulted in David Ward’s left footed penalty which he slotted coolly in the corner to seal the 3-0 win.
Best for Donegal Town were Aaron Slevin, Raymond Mc Groary and Ben Sweeney while best for Keadue were David Ward, Shaun Yank Boyle, Jack O’Brien and Hugh Moy. Referee : Con McLaughlin.
Bonagee United 0 Cappry Rovers 3
The visitors took the lead on fifteen minutes when Gerard Mc Laughlin won the ball wide out on the right and his cross into the box was fired home by Darren O’ Leary. They made it two on thirty minutes when Calvin Bradley broke down the wing and his cross into the box was headed out and the incoming Brendan Mc Laughlin shot home from the edge of the box.
The home side kept plugging away and a few strikes on goal was well handled Eoghan Gallen in the visitor’s goal. The final goal of the game came on sixty five minutes when Calvin Bradley won the ball thirty yards out from goal he beat the defender and hammered home to the bottom corner of the net from outside the box. Team Effort by both teams.

Curragh Athletic 1 Lifford Celtic 2
This game between Curragh and league contenders Lifford Celtic was played in Killygordan. The game started with Lifford taking the lead after ten minutes when Jason Mc Brearty scored from close range Curragh fought hard looking for a goal but it was Lifford young gun Daniel Lindsay got one before half time.
Second half saw Curragh started really well and in the sixty fifth minute Chris Darby pulled a Goal back and Curragh pushed hard but veteran keeper Lee White was in good form. Team performances from both sides.
Eany Celtic 0 Dunkineely Celtic 2
It was the away side that came out on top in this battle of the Celtics at Eany. The visitors started best and went one up when Cian Kennedy found space outside the Eany box and his well-placed shot found the net.
The game remained 0-1 until half time. Eany started the second half best and went close on a few occasions but were caught out by a long ball on the hour. Aaron Byrne read the long ball and found himself in behind the Eany defence.
He continued his run to score his side’s second goal from close range. Dunkineely were able to hold on for the win and collect all three points. Referee: John Coyle
Letterbarrow Celtic 5 Copany Rovers 0
Letterbarrow proved too strong for a very young Copany Rovers side on a beautiful day for football at Tymeen. The game was evenly contested in the first fifteen minutes until the deadlock was broken when Jamie Coyle latched onto a through ball from Kieran Breslin to slot home under the advancing keeper.
It was two nil ten minutes later when Gerard Mc Brearty slotted home from the edge of the box. The home side started the second half strongly and Christopher Burke powered home a header from a Nathan Carr corner on fifty minutes.
Kevin Mc Brearty got the fourth for the home side when he dribbled round the advancing keeper to tap home from close range. Kevin Mc Brearty added the fifth on eighty minutes when he slotted home after good work from Pauric Coyle. John Kenny was best for Letterbarrow with Rodger Leonard best for Copany.
Drumkeen United 1 Ballybofey United 1
League Leaders Ballybofey were the visitors to a Sunny but cold St Patrick’s Park on Sunday afternoon. The home team had the best of the first half but chances for either side were few and far between as most of the game was played in the Middle third. Despite this it was a very entertaining first half.
The half was drawing to a close when the deadlock was finally broken. A Ballybofey clearance fell to Michael Guthrie inside the box, he beat a defender before firing a great shot with his left foot which flew into the net about a foot inside the bottom of the right hand post giving Keeper Ger Hanley no chance and giving the home team a deserved 1 goal lead at half time. Drumkeen started the second half well and Michael Guthrie forced a save from Hanley.
He also saved a free kick by Benny Bonner and the best of his saves came from a great effort from Niall Bonner on the edge of the box. Michael Guthrie also saw his headed effort from a benny Bonner corner go well over the bar.
As the second half wore on Ballybofey were getting more in to the game and Rory Dunleavy put his shot over the bar under pressure from a Drumkeen defender. Drumkeen were defending pretty well though and were managing to keep their lead intact. With about ten minutes left the visitors were handed a lifeline when Ballybofey player Damian Glackin was adjudged to have been fouled inside the box and Referee Liam McLaughlin awarded the penalty.
Glackin himself stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home past Michael Gibson. The visitors went in search of a winner which made it a tense and nervous last ten minutes for Drumkeen as they forced a series of Corners and Free kicks. Thankfully for the home team they managed to deal with them.
With what was more or less the last kick of the game Ballybofey were awarded a corner and Drumkeen Keeper Michael Gibson showed great bravery as he came out and punched the ball away to safety. The final whistle went shortly after. Referee: Liam Mc Laughlin
