Little Órán Nibbs (7) from Trentagh sadly lost his battle with mitochondrial disease yesterday.
Facebook group Our Children’s Voice is run by parents of children with life-limiting conditions.
The group published a touching tribute to Órán, saying; “Donegal has lost a brave warrior today who always had a smile on his face, as he fought the battle with Mitochondrial Disease.”
“It’s with great sadness we say farewell to this gorgeous boy. Oran took his angel wings today with his family around him.”
“Our thoughts are with his family and all who love Oran.”
Mitochondrial disease is a rare genetic disease with no cure.
Órán suffered from other illnesses such as epilepsy and hypotonia.
Órán’s family established a Facebook page and website in order to raise vital funds needed to get treatment for Órán, traveling to the UK and US.
Sadly, he lost his bravely fought battle with the condition yesterday.
Órán’s remains will repose at his home from 12 noon to 8pm today and from 12 noon to 8pm on Sunday the 22nd of January.
Funeral from there on Monday the 23rd of January at 10.30am for Mass at 11am in The Church of the Irish Marytrs, Letterkenny.
Interment afterwards in Carrigans Cemetry, Maugherow, Co. Sligo.
Family time please from 8pm to 12 noon and on the morning of the funeral.
