Temperatures are set to plunge tonight with the gauge set to show -4 degrees in some places.
After a very mild week, temperatures are set to drop tonight as a cold snap takes over Ireland.
A widespread severe frost will form, along with some icy patches – as air temperatures drop as low as -4 in many inland areas.
Saturday won’t see much improvement to temperatures, as 3C will be the average across the country.
Met Eireann has also warned to expect another severe frost across the country.
However, the good news is that the cold snap will end almost as quickly as it started – with daytime temperatures beginning to rise again from Monday.
In the early days of next week daytime temperatures are expected of 7C to 10C.
