Political activist Liam Whyte has welcomed the news of plans for a new water treatment plant in the Lough Anna site in Glenties.
The plant, which is at planning stage, will be a major upgrade for the Glenties and Ardara areas.
The new plant at Lough Anna will provide safe treated water to the Ardara and Glenties areas – something that has not been available up to now.
Whyte said that “the news is to be welcomed and that hopefully the adjoining pipework will be upgraded soon.
Much of the pipework in Ardara/Glenties is old and leaks are a frequent occurrence so hopefully this will be rectified as soon as possible”.
If planning is granted, the tender will go out in April and it’s estimated that the works will take six months to complete.
