Tributes are being made to all involved in a great Christmas Day dinner enjoyed by more than 100 people in the company of new friends.
The dinner was held in Conwal Parish Hall, where a band of volunteers spent their Christmas Day preparing, serving and entertaining the guests.
The Letterkenny Chamber contacts all its members and asks them to provide the food and provisions for the Christmas Day dinner event for those who live alone. From this request, Radisson Blu have (since year one) sponsored most of the dinners.
Other Chamber members and friends donate gifts, soft drinks, table cloths, crackers, mince pies, utensils, cooking equipment, Christmas cake and any money donated is used to fund the balance of the dinners and any fresh goods that are required. Some also volunteer to help at the event or to drive diners to and from the event if necessary.
This year one lady kindly offered to make fresh brown bread and deliver it at its freshest on Christmas Day.
Anne Condon from the Letterkenny Chamber expressed thanks to all people involved.
“Once again, thanks to your generosity, this event went ahead and allowed people to celebrate together, rather than be alone on Christmas Day. Thanks to Radisson Blu for their continued very generous sponsorship and to all members and friends who supported this lovely event by donating money, items, gifts or volunteered their time.
“A huge thanks to Kathy O’Connor and her team of volunteers who give up their Christmas Day to organise the actual event. Happy New Year to everyone.”
