Residents in a popular Inishowen town had a lucky escape yesterday after an out-of-control car careered down through a popular beauty spot.
Locals in the seaside town of Moville say this is the second such incident recently.
The VW Golf car came hurtling down the hill at Glenburnie, through the entrance to the beach and across the shore pathway.
Thankfully no one was hurt on either occasion.
However locals are now how many times must we be warned before preventative action is taken.
Residents at Glenburnie are now calling on the Council Engineers to assess the situation and install bollards to ensure the safety of visitors and locals alike who use this popular facility.
“We could be talking about a serious injury or even worse today. It’s just sheer luck that no children or elderly people were walking along this part of the shore pathway when this happened.
“They would certainly have been wiped out and any council study would have been too late.
“We need the situation assessed immediately and bollards ned to be erected in case this happens again,” said one resident.
