When Noelle Downey marked her card last week in the Aodh Ruadh GAA club lotto, her odds of winning would have been huge.
The chances of a six-number sequence being pulled out are sizeable enough, but what about the prospects of having numbers 1-6 being drawn?
Since the Ballyshannon-based club’s lotto began 22 years ago in 1995, 1,2,3,4,5,6 had never been pulled in the same drawn – but that all changed on Sunday night.
Most clubs would have been laughing at another rollover weekend were those numbers to be drawn out.
But in the Aodh Ruadh draw, Noelle Downey, from Higginstown, was given a New Year’s prize of €7,700 after seeing her numbers come up.
