A lightning strike which struck a Donegal church on Christmas Day caused serious damage.
The Archdeacon of Raphoe, Ven. David Huss, said Donegal Parish Church in Donegal Town may now be forced to remain closed for a number of weeks during repair work.
ESB staff cut off the electricity supply to the building.
A number of sockets and circuit boards were blown out as a result of the massive power surge into the building.
The strike took place after 9pm and thankfully nobody was in the church at the time.
