A Garda had to jump out of the way of a speeding car after he tried to stop it at an official checkpoint.
The Garda was operating the checkpoint at Killylastin, Letterkenny on January 16th last when the incident happened.
Letterkenny District Court was told today that the Garda had to jump out of the way when a Honda Civic car being driven by Ciaran Maguire.
The court was told that Maguire, aged 23 of Dooballagh, Letterkenny then drove off at speed and almost hit another car.
Solicitor Frank Dorrian said his client had no tax on the car and panicked on the day.
The court heard the car is registered to a Niall Maguire of Dooballagh, Letterkenny.
Judge Paul Kelly said that the driver was lucky he was not facing more serious charges.
He fined the LYIT student €150.
