A GAA club draw for a brand new house is attracting huge interest from
people who have been forced to move abroad to work.
The draw for the €155,000 house in Letterkenny has been
organised by St Eunan’s Club.
It is understood the draw is the first since the Celtic Tiger era to
offer a house as a prize.
St Eunan’s GAA club hope to raise enough in the draw to help construct
a new all-weather 4G floodlit pitch at the club’s O’Donnell Park home.
The three-bedroom semi-detached home is in the Rann Mór Meadow development.
Club treasurer Niall Doherty told Donegal Daily that tickets for the draw cost €100 each
and is attracting huge interest from Donegal people and others living
abroad.
“Can you imagine having the chance to come home to a house that has
everything including a kitchen and flooring?
“That would be a huge start in life for any young couple and it’s a
great incentive to come home,” he said.
He added that general interest in the draw has been very strong and
revealed that the club held several such draws for houses before 2007.
“There’s a lot of tickets out there and the general interest is really
strong. We are hopeful this draw will do really well for the club,” he
said.
As well as selling the tickets locally, Mr Doherty says selling
tickets on the klubfunder.com website has also proved popular.
