Fit-again Darach ‘Jigger’ O’Connor could be back in action for the Donegal senior football team this Sunday. The diminutive Buncrana man hasn’t played for Donegal in almost 17 months, having injured a cruciate knee ligament last year.
His last game for Donegal was the 2015 Ulster final – but now he’s set for a comeback.
Donegal take on Sligo in a challenge game on Sunday at 1.30 and Donegal Sport Hub is reporting that O’Connor may feature.
“We are very happy with the progress he’s made. You can see the hunger he has now to make up for lost time,” said Donegal manager Rory Gallagher in an interview.
Sunday’s game will be a 13-a-side fixture at Coláiste Ailigh and comes a year after a planned game with Derry to mark the opening of the new facilities at the Letterkenny school had to be shelved.
