NEWS that Glencovitt NS, Ballybofey has been guaranteed funding for the provision of an additional classroom has been welcomed by Deputy Pat The Cope Gallagher.
The Department of Education has confirmed that it is committed to providing the funding.
“The provision of funding for the additional classroom is welcome news for the school, staff, pupils, parents and the Board of Management of Glencovitt NS,” Deputy Gallagher said.
“The school currently has an enrolement of 85 pupils, with four mainstream teachers, an additional resource teaching post and a further learning support post.
“The announcement of an additional classroom with be of huge benefit to the school, as the additional space and capacity is much needed by the school.
“The Devolved Grant approval which I confirm today will allow the Board of Management to immediately seek planning permission for the extension, and proceed to construction stage.
“The advantages of the devolved grant mechanism is that the BOM remain in charge of the project rather interacting further with the Department which more often than not lead to more delays in moving the project forward.”
