DONEGAL GAA legends Colm McFadden and Eamon McGee were honoured at Saturday night’s annual banquet in Donegal town following their retirements.
The pair were members of the 2012 All-Ireland winning panel and played a combined total of 324 games for Donegal.
McFadden retired as Donegal’s record appearance holder and record scorer, with 25-434 scored in 170 appearances.
McGee played 154 games for Donegal, making his 100th appearance in the 2012 All-Ireland final win over Mayo.
“It was an eventful enough career, but it was good craic,” McGee said in an interview.
“It was a good journey. It was a pure honour to play with the likes of Colm, Christy Toye, big Neil, Michael Murphy, Neil the brother, the list goes on.
“Donegal, from what I can see, will be competing for the next few years. You have to cut ties eventually.”
McFadden was an All-Star in 2012 and said of his retirement: “It was an easy decision at the end up, but I’ll still miss it. The time was right.”
