A Kerrykeel couple have once again lit up the Donegal skyline for Christmas to help those less fortunate than themselves.
Michael and Mary Whoriskey got the bright idea of illuminating their home on the Glenvar Road with Christmas lights 11 years ago.
And set on an acre of ground, you can just imagine that that’s a lot of lights!
The couple now spend days getting an incredible 20,000 lights ready each year to put on a lighting spectacular which can be seen for miles.
Each year the proceeds from donations to the lights go to various charities.
To date the big-hearted couple have managed to raise more than €40,000 for various charities including the Donegal Hospice, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Breast Care U atnit Letterkenny University Hospital, Acquired Brain Injury at Woodlands and the Autism Sensory Room at Woodlands National School.
This year’s chosen charities are Pieta House NorthWest and Mevagh Fire Service in Carrigart.
All the large displays are hand made in the couple’s workshop and the life size crib is situated at the main entrance.
If you haven’t visited Mary and Michael’s spectacular display, make a family visit out of it and donate whatever you can.
