The Bord na nÓg AGM took place last Wednesday in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. Reports were read and a useful discussion about the year past took place. One of the most encouraging aspects was a determined commitment to also field teams in division 2 at younger grades to give as many players as much football as possible. It will take increased manpower to make this a reality so anyone who is able help is invited to make contact with the relevant managers. Appointments were then made for the 2017 season with the all posts being filled on the night. Post holders for 2017 are as follows: Chairman, David O’Donnell; Secretary, Lisa McTernan; Southern Divisional Board Delegate, Lisa McTernan; Under 6 management, Ivan O’Mahoney and Packie McGrath; Under 8 management, Niall McCready and Damian Conlon; Under 10 management, Paul Gillespie and David O’Donnell; Under 12 management, Alan Sweeny and James Bradshaw; Under 14 management, Paddy Gillespie and Gerald McGloin; Under 16 management, John Hughes and Martin McGlynn; Under 17 and under 18 management, Raymie Granaghan.
Hurling
Juvenile Hurling AGM will take place this Tuesday, 29th November, at 8pm. It will be a review of 2016 and a look forward to 2017. All interested in underage hurling are asked to attend. At the moment we are fielding six underage teams. There is a lot of work involved for the small, hard-working committee and we would encourage some new blood to get involved. Nobody needs to be afraid of being forced to take a job. Come along on the night and hear how the underage hurling season went in 2016. You never know you, might want to get involved. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. Anyone who can’t make the meeting, but feels like getting involved is asked to contact John Rooney 086-2587793.
Our annual Christmas quiz will take place in Owen Roe’s on Thursday 15th December. Always a good night of fun and craic.
Ladies
The Ladies committee would like to encourage senior ladies and members who are parents of underage players to attend the Club AGM as there will be matters to be decided regarding Ladies Football within the club and it is important those affected are present to have their say.
Scór na nÓg
Best of luck to Amy Carney who will be representing the club at the Scór na nÓg county final which takes place this Sunday in Glenfin at 3pm. She will be competing in the Aithriseoireacht / Scéalaíocht – Recitation / Storytelling section, reciting the William Allingham poem, Abbey Assaroe.
