Gardai have issued a warning after a surge in the thefts of plant hire across the county in recent weeks.
Last weekend a digger worth more than €30,000 was stolen from a yard in St Johnston.
Crime Prevention Officer, Sgt Paul Wallace “People need to label their items and to secure them as well as they can.
“There is an upsurge in the building trade which has generally been quiet and with that comes an upsurge in thefts.”
The latest victim of that upsurge in plant hire theft is James Browne from Gortlee Plant Hire.
Mr Browne is counting the cost after a Hitachi zero tail swing digger ZX29U-3 as well as a Williams plant trailer.
Both were stolen from a yard in St. Johnston over the weekend.
Anyone who knows of its whereabouts is asked to contact 0749126276 or Letterkenny Garda station on 0749167100.
