Minister Joe McHugh has welcomed €85,000 in grant-aid for Donegal healthcare organisations.
A total of five groups in Donegal will receive a share of the funding.
Over 120 healthcare and social care organisations are set to receive funding of over €2.7million under the latest round of National Lottery Grants from the Department of Health.
“This funding will make a significant difference in the provision of healthcare services in Donegal”, says Fine Gael Minister of State Joe McHugh TD.
“The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD today (Monday) announced that 5 healthcare-related and social care services in Donegal will receive a total of €84,900 under the latest round of National Lottery Grants.
“This the second announcement this year, in which the Department of Health provides once-off grants to organisations for healthcare-related and social care services.”
The local organisations set to receive funding include:
* Letterkenny Youth and Family Service € 50,000.00; to establish a Healthy Living centre
* Arthritis Ireland Donegal €2,900.00 ; to roll out the “Be Active With Arthritis” programme.
* Co Donegal Parents and Friends of People with Intellectual Disabilities ; €20,000.00 ; to purchase several buses.
* Donegal Family Resource Centre €9,000.00 ; to provide events for Mental Health week 2016
* Autism Support Dungloe €3,000.00 ; towards the cost of group events.
Minister McHugh added “This funding will make a real difference to groups, volunteers and of course their clients in communities throughout Donegal. The grants will help to provide equipment, upgrade facilities and provide health-related services.”
