A Donegal mum and daughter have made history by becoming the first to serve an Garda Síochána together.
Gemma Crampsie, from Letterkenny, was among 145 probationers who passed out from the Garda College in Templemore yesterday.
Her mother Madeline is a well-known member who is based in Donegal since she herself graduated in 2000.
Gemma has been allocated to Dundalk station.
Madeline’s husband is well-known Letterkenny man Paul Crampsie who works with An Post in Letterkenny.
Gemma was also joined by other family members for her big passing out day including grandparents Gerry and Greta Daley.
Yesterday’s new additions to the Garda’s ranks also included 10 probationers originally from countries overseas, including England, Wales and the US.
This is the seventh intake to begin training at the college under the new BAS (applied policing) programme.
