Peadar Jim’s Property Maintenence founder Peter Blake gave back to Saint Vincent de Paul by hosting a live auction of a renovated bicycle which went for a staggering €550.
Peter hosted the live auction on his company’s Facebook page, and said; “Saint Vincent de Paul helped me out in the recession so many times, I had to swallow my pride and ask for help. They gave me a bag of coal and €40 worth of food vouchers on numerous occasions. Like so many others struggling in the same situation to date St Vincent de Paul does remarkable work!”
“I’m very fortunate I got through the tough times and started my own business so I’ve decided to give back to St Vincent de Paul and auction this bicycle I purchased two months ago and I gave it to the brilliant Marty Sparky Sharkey from Sharkey’s Signs Newtowncunningham asked him to work his magic on it and he certainly did that because I know he is a bike fanatic and was the right man to go see, massive thanks to him.”
All proceeds went to SVDP with the aim of making Christmas a little more comfortable for Donegal families who may be facing hardship.
On top of having people bid on the bike, others donated directly to SVDP, with one anonymous donor giving a massive €500 to the charity.
Peter added; “This will hopefully help a lot more people who are struggling especially coming up to the Christmas period. I hope this raises awareness to people and shows them that it’s okay to ask for help.”
Leonard Watson of Watson Menswear Letterkenny successfully bid €550 on Peter’s live auction and won the very unique bike.
And to top off an amazing weekend for Peter, he won the Best Start-up Business at the Letterkenny Chamber Business Awards on Friday night.
