Former RTE star Bibi says nobody will give her a TV job because she’s too old

Former Donegal TV presenter Bibi Baskin says she has come up against an age barrier since returning to live in Ireland.

The Ardara woman was one of RTE’s biggest stars in the 1980s and even had her own show Bibi.

But speaking on last night’s Late Late Show, the 64 year old says nobody has offered her a shred of work since she returned to Ireland two years after after spending almost 15 years in India.

Bibi told host Ryan Tubridy that at her age nobody wants to put her or anybody else her age on television.

Asked if she would like to go back to working in front of the camera, Bibi replied “Does a bear s*** in the woods?”

Bibi, who now lives in Cork, revealed she has done a couple of years with a local radio station but that has been the height of her return to broadcasting.

She revealed how she never makes plans in her life and puts that down to the sudden death of her father when she was just four years old.
