Donegal teenager Ronan McKinley of Bonagee United FC has been named as one of the U15 Republic of Ireland team members ahead of their clash with Poland.
This follows an exciting week for Bonagee United FC with the official opening of their pitch floodlights last weekend.
The first game will take place on Tuesday in Lomza, Poland, with kick-off at 12pm. The second match will take place at the same location on Thursday, with kick-off at 4pm.
Under 15s manager Jason Donohue (pictured above) said: “We’re excited. It is a great opportunity for these young footballers to taste international football for the first time and test themselves on the highest stage.
“We’ve done extensive work over the last couple of months, scouting up and down the country at clubs and within our highly successful Emerging Talent Programme.
“We brought in 34 players for a training camp at the end of October for three days where we had a good chance to assess the players. The quality was extremely high but we were then able to select a squad of 18 players for the two fixtures.
“We want to use these two matches to continue to implement the game plans and footballing ethos that we’ve established within our Emerging Talent Programmes but also to test the players against top opposition like Poland as we look to develop players for the future.”
