Parents of schoolchildren have been warned not to allow their children to walk to and from school after a pupil was approached by a man brandishing a weapon.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon (Thurs) as a young boy was returning home from school in the Dungloe area.
Donegal Daily understands the boy was approached by a man who shouted at him and waved a weapon at him.
Thankfully the boy was not physically hurt in any way and ran to the safety of his home.
Gardai were alerted and a search of the area was launchd but it is not understood any arrests have yet been made.
Local schools in the area have issued texts to all parents warning them not to allow children to walk alone.
The text reads “Due to an incident which occurred after school today for safety reasons we ask parents to drop and collect children from school. Children should not walk home alone.”
Gardai are continuing their investigations into the incident.
