Lucy Costello from Ballindrait, has been awarded the Scoláireacht Chiste Theach an Ardmhéara sa Ghaeilge 2016.
The award ceremony took place on 9th November in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.
The Mansion House Fund, which is designed to promote ‘the study of Irish Language, Literature and History’, provides for the annual award of a Scholarship in Irish.
The award is based on the written work of final year students achieving the highest marks in the four Constituent Universities.
Along with the scholarship, she received the Eamon de Valera commemorative medal, minted by NUI to celebrate the 1916 Centenary.
This is Lucy’s second scholarship, she collected the Dr H H Stewart scholarship in Irish in 2013 at the NUI award ceremony.
Recently graduated from NUI Galway, with BA(hon)Irish & history with Creative Writing, Lucy is continuing her studies for her MA in Modern Irish.
