Ballyliffin Golf Club Results by Phelim Davenport
The first real chills of Winter accompanied the golf in Ballyliffin this weekend.
The Friday Open was won by Jeff Davie[17] with a great score of 40pts, bye bye 17 Jeff. In 2nd place was Stephen John Mitchell[14] with 35pts. In 3rd spot was Matt Concannon[9] with 33pts.
The Saturday Open was played in difficult conditions. The winner was another up and coming young player Daniel Mc Namee[14] with 36pts. In 2nd place was Mark Taylor[14] with 34pts. Thomas Mailey[20] showed that there was more to him than his good looks and took 3rd with 34pts. Liam Mc Laughlin[9] seems to be on an upward curve again like his beloved Chelsea, he took 4th with 33pts, The Gross went to regular Sat. gross man these days Cormac Mc Keone[4] with 26 gross pts.
Even the brass monkeys needed lagging to play in the Sunday Confined on the old course. In top place was morning man Darryl Butler[19] with35pts. 2nd spot went to Liam Doherty[c][13] with 34pts. Daniel G mc Gonagle[21] took 3rd with 34pts also. Corney Doherty made an appearance in 4th place with 33pts. Brendan Devlin[1] got back on the Gross trail with 31 gross pts. Quite a few members didn’t make it for the competition, they had been on a Pioneer outing to Murvagh with the Captain on Saturday and their sense of direction would not have been great come Sunday.
The Wed. Soc. was won by Andy ‘Pep’ Mc Gonagle with 38pts. In 2nd plac was Don ‘Klopp’ Mc Gonagle with 36pts. In 3rd place was Martin O Mahoney with 36pts also.
Next Saturday is the annual battle of the sexes when the ladies go out and marvel at how great the men are at golf and then after a few holes realise that most of us are crap and then try to beat us. Brown bag regular size for me Margaret. Happy Golfing
