Met Éireann have warned that temperatures will plunge this week and we could see the first snowfall of the winter in Co Donegal.
Temperatures could reach as low as -1 degrees in some parts of the country this weekend, and there may even be some snow.
Those in the north and northwest can expect rain and hail showers, with Met Éireann advising that there may be some snow in higher areas.
Tonight, it will be coldest in the east with temperatures of one degrees expected in places.
Saturday will be showery, cool and blustery, with a risk of hail or thunder in the northwest and north.
A bout of frost is also expected over the coming days.
Scattered showers will continue to affect the north facing coastal counties of Ulster, Connacht and west Munster.
Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees are expected on Sunday night.
Monday will see the return of some drier weather with sunny spells; however, there may be risk of ice in the morning.
On Monday night, a sharp frost will develop as temperatures fall to between -2 and + 2 degrees.
