Architectural wonders along Donegal’s coastline will be highlighted on television this week in a new TG4 series.
Tithe Cois Farraige is a new eight-part series that will be broadcast on TG4 starting on Wednesday, November 2, at 9.30pm.
The first episode sees presenter Síle Nic Chonaonaigh visiting some amazing contemporary homes along Donegal’s 800 miles of coastline. She meets the people who created them and those who live in them, learning about the influences and meaning behind the unusual designs.
Sweeping views of the county from above feature throughout the programme, and we see some iconic points including Fanad Lighthouse and Sliabh League.
She visits Gaoth Dobhair native and musician Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh in her architect-designed coastal home which is flooded with natural light and has an unspoilt view of Errigal.
Síle also admires the design of The Pig House and Tuath na Mara, two homes created by MacGabhann Architects which were inspired by the surrounding landscapes.
These seaside homes come with idyllic scenes of the seaside, and it soon comes as no surprise why people choose to locate themselves near Donegal’s stunning shores.
Sile will go on to explore the rest of the country in the remainder of the series, meeting more people who have realised their dream of living by the sea. Catch Tithe Cois Farraige on TG4 this Wednesday at 9.30pm on TG4.
