Amanda Albones has launched an appeal with Donegal Daily in an attempt to find her husband’s family, who are originally from Manorcunningham.
Shaun Marsh’s mother was called Anna Marsh, née Crawford (pictured above). She was born on the 9th of August 1945. Shaun hasn’t seen his Donegal family since his mother’s funeral in April 2001.
Anna emigrated to Wigan aged twenty four, where Shaun was raised before he moved to Liverpool.
Shaun, raised in Wigan, recalls fond memories of holidays spent in Donegal, and would now like to reconnect with them.
It is believed that Anna’s brothers and sisters are called Joe, Billy, Maureen Deveney, and Isobel Rodgers. Shaun estimates them to be in their sixties now, with their children possibly being in their 30s or 40s.
Shaun has cousins named Jack, Edwin, Gabriel, Bridget. His aunt Isobel and uncle-in-law Eamonn have children called Maureen, Michael and Sadie.
Shaun believes that his uncle Joe worked with an electricity supplier, and some of the family worked on Platt’s Farm and owned Ray cottages.
Amanda says; “Shaun can’t recall a lot of details [about his cousins] as he hasn’t seen a lot of them since he was a child, but had seen a few of them at his mum’s funeral fifteen years ago”.
She continues; “My husband is alone – his only family is me and mine, his parents are deceased, and he always talk about his time in Letterkenny as a child. We have 4 children and they don’t know they have a large family in Ireland, would be lovely to try to reunite.”
