Teens and masters from Letterkenny’s Crossfit community nailed their workouts to achieve winning places on the podium at the weekend.
Competitors from across Europe, aged from 14-50plus, battled their way through a diverse range of cardiovascular and weightlifting events at The Celtic Series Competition in Virginia, Co Cavan.
It was one of Ireland’s biggest Teen and Masters Crossfit Competitions to date with individuals taking on four gruelling workouts in their age category.
Fifteen athletes from Crossfit Letterkenny took part in the competition, some for the first time, proving age is no barrier to fitness.
Fitness and Nutritionist coach Neil Barrett, owner of Crossfit Letterkenny described the commitment from each athlete as “unbelievable”.
“I’m very proud of everyone’s performance. It was amazing to watch how well they performed and shows that Crossfit truly is a sport for everyone,” he said.
The weekend was exciting from start to finish and saw Podium places on day one for Teen Daniel Mc Cormack, who finished 3rd (16-17 RX) and Megan Keown 2nd (14-15 RX).
Day two was equally as exciting with Nicola Doherty (14-15), Adam Friel(18-22), Sinead Mc Cormack (40-44), Harry Coyle (23-34) and Paula Kinsella (50+) all taking 2nd place on the podium.
