The under 21’s county semi-final against Naomh Conaill will take place this Friday, 28th October at 8pm in Ardara. Best of luck to the squad and management in this big game for the club. It goes without saying that we want as big a crowd as possible in Ardara. The seniors are down to play Naomh Colmcille on Sunday in Newtowncunningham at 3pm with the reserves due to play the curtain raiser at 1.30pm.
The second week of play in the Bakery Cup took place last Friday with exchanges again of a high quality. The first match saw Eugene Doherty’s side racking up their second win of the league stages, getting the better of Shane Brady’s outfit on a scoreline of 14-10 to 9-8. In the second game Senan Rooney’s side were unable to build on last week’s win with Mark McGlynn’s men having the better of exchanges and running out 8-6 to 6-6 victors. The Cup is back again for the third week of its four week run with a slight change of schedule. Games are on Thursday this week with all players are to up at the park for 3.30pm sharp and games throwing in at 4pm.

The first week of competition in the under 10 Ballyshannon Shoe Company winter league took place last Friday. We had 42 players taking part on a great evening for football. Michael Keown’s Team A beat Eoin Doogan’s Team B in a tight game coming from two points down to win by three points in the end. Matthew Fox and Eoin Cassidy were excellent for the winning side, while Stephen Doran, Eoin Doogan and Dara McGloin showed well for Team B. In the other game Finn Coady’s Team C put in a powerful second half to get the better of Morgan McNamee’s Team D by six points. Killian Bradshaw and Barry Campbell put in great shifts for Team C. Games continue again this Friday with the second round of fixtures seeing Team A captained by Michael Keown taking on Team C captained by Finn Coady at 6pm. Team B captained by Eoin Doogan will play Team D captained by Morgan McNamee at 6.30pm. Ladies
Well done to the Realt Ruadh Ladies team who were presented with the Division 2 League trophy by Hugh Devanney Chairman of The County Ladies Board in The Bank Bar, Bundoran. The cup was presented to Hannah Doherty and Tara Khan the joint captains of the Realt Ruadh Ladies team.
The under 16’s division 2 county semi-final against Urris will take place next Monday, 31st October in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh at 12 noon. The girls had a brilliant win against Fanad Gaels in the quarter-final after a mid-week trek up north and deserve a big support to get behind them.
Well done to Sara Jane Keon, Orla Keon and Áine Hill who were part of the successful Donegal team which competed at the under 13 Ulster blitz last Saturday.
Aodh Ruadh under 13 girls booked their place in the county semi-final with a power-packed display against Termon in Páirc Aoidh Ruaidh on Sunday afternoon. The girls dictated from the off with a Katie O’Brien point and a brace of Caitlin McGarrigle frees helping them settle into the game. The first goal came from some great direct running by Danielle McGarrigle who struck home confidently. She added a point shortly after before Emer O’Brien drilled home a second goal with a well-placed shot. Another Katie O’Brien point concluded an exceptional half of football from the hosts where the incredible work-rate of the midfield and defence restricted Termon to a single point. Things started better for the visitors in the second half with an early goal, but Aodh Ruadh got the perfect response when Aoibheann McGarrigle rattled home at the other end. After that the scoring rate dropped off significantly and Termon managed to work their way back into contention with a couple of goals. They were also helped by a superb penalty save from a well-struck shot by their excellent keeper. However Aodh Ruadh finished strong and a point from Sara Jane Keon followed by score of the game, an rasper of a goal from Aoibheann McGarrigle, saw the Shamettes take the victory. It was a near perfect display of football from Aodh Ruadh against a strong Termon outfit, everywhere you looked there were heroes in white and green, the starting team was Áine Hill; Orla Keon, Ciara Caldwell, Grainne Maguire; Lucy McGlynn, Ella Clancy, Ailish Gallagher; Caitlin McGarrigle, Tia McFarland; Katie McMullin, Danielle Gallagher, Sarah Jane Keon; Aoibheann McGarrigle, Katie O’Brien, Emer O’Brien. We have pictures from the game up on aodhruadh.org. Next up is the county semi-final against Killybegs in Fintra. That will be this Saturday at 12 noon. We’d love to see a big crowd down to get behind this brilliant bunch of girls. Training is at the earlier time of 5.30pm this Wednesday. Players are asked to ensure they have appropriate gear for the weather.
