Donegal has been ranked as the eighth most popular destination for overseas tourists in 2015.
The figures released by Fáilte Ireland show that 289,000 visitors travelled to Donegal from overseas last year.
Tourists visiting from abroad brought in €83m of revenue to the county in 2015, which meant Donegal ranked in eighth place in a survey of tourism earnings.
The statistics were provided by Fáilte Ireland to Independent.ie, and were based on rolling, three-year averages from their studies of overseas travellers.
Dublin was placed top of both lists, with 4,938,000 overseas visitors bringing in €1,726m to the county.
Cork, Galway, Kerry and Clare make up the rest of the top five destinations in terms of visitor numbers. The top five highest earning tourism counties are Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kerry and Limerick.
