U16 Hurlers
Hard luck to our U16 hurlers who lost out in the Championship county semi final to Aodh Ruadh on Thursday night. The lads made a great comeback in the second half, coming back from twelve points down at one stage. They lost by one point in the end up with some having it as a draw. Thanks goes to Mark Sweeney, Donal Carron and all the players for their hard work throughout 2016.

In the boys section, Gaelscoil Na gCeithre Máistrí defeated Scoil Aodh Ruadh agus Nuala in a great contest with goals proving to be difference in the end up. Thanks goes to John McGlanhey for refereeing both games. The league continues this Thursday from 4pm in Tir Conaill.
Fixtures this week are as follows;
Boys Football: Scoil An Línbh Íosa vs Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistrí (Throw in 4:40pm)
St Francis N.S. vs Scoil Aodh Ruadh agus Nuala (Throw in 4:40pm)
Our U13 girls enjoyed mixed fortunes this week. On Wednesday evening at home we played St Nauls in an exciting local derby. We started the game excellently leading by a point at half time thanks to 2 great goals from Aine Byrne, 3 points from Aine Ward & 1from Lucy Monaghan. We started the 2nd half by racing in to a 7 point lead with 2 goals from Aine Ward.
However we then ran out of steam for the remainder of the 2nd half, when St Nauls took control & ran out 5-14 to 5-4 winners. Only a wonderful individual run from one end of the pitch to the other by Ellen Canavan to score a wonderful goal gave the home crowd anything to cheer in the dying minutes.
On Sunday away to Convoy, the girls lifted themselves to turn in a great performance. We started well with a great point from young Aoife Cox, followed by a well taken goal by the same player. We led at half time by 5-1 to 2-3 thanks to goals from Ciara Cox, Emma Sweeney, Lucy Monaghan and Aoife Cox.
Convoy started the second half well scoring some lovely points from distance but the Four Masters ship was steadied with a great goal from Shauna Doherty. Scoring goals in this game won the match for us running out 9-3 to 3-10 winners.
A wonderful individual tally of 4-2 for Lucy Monaghan. The team was led well by captain Aine Byrne with great performances from Caoimhe Cox, Sarah Canny and Ciara Gillespie Cassidy. Overall this was a real team performance with everyone working well together to ensure victory.
