Well-known county councillor Jimmy Kavanagh is laughing all the way to the bank after quitting smoking.
The Letterkenny public representative was a heavy smoker admitting that he puffed his way through 60 cigarettes a day.
Jimmy, an IT worker at Letterkenny University Hospital, gave up the dreaded weed 10 years ago on October 6th.
He recently became curious as to how much money he saved in today’s prices after quitting his habit so he sat down and worked it out.
And even Jimmy was shocked to discover he has saved an incredible €114,975!
Of course, he doesn’t know where all the money has gone which he saved.
Always one for a bit of wry humour, he wrote “Quit smoking on the 6th October 2006, 10 years ago today, one of my better decisions.
“In today’s prices that is a saving of approx. €114,975 on my 60 a day habit. I wonder where that money went? It doesn’t grow on trees, you know.”
