An Post have announced the release of four new stamps, which will feature an image of the stunning Fanad Lighthouse at the top of the Fanad Peninsula.

The new 72c stamps will honour the Commissioners of Irish Lights who manage lighthouses and navigation of the seas around Ireland.

Fanad Lighthouse is a top highlight of the Wild Atlantic Way, and the spectacular structure appears on one of the four stamps with an Irish Lights helicopter at work in the picture.

With images of the lighthouse now being circulated around the world, the attraction which was first lit in 1817 could grow even more in popularity.

Fanad Lighthouse has enjoyed recent refurbishment and was officially opened to the public this year. Visitors flock to take in amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean from the beautiful location, which has been voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world.

The new stamps will be released in a special first day cover envelope and booklet featuring Irish Lights staff working on a buoy, a helicopter, Irish Lights technology and the Irish Lights Vessel Granuaile.

Designed by Dublin’s Vermillion Design, the stamps may be viewed and purchased at all main post offices and online at irishstamps.ie.
