A 10k event to provide an opportunity to those who wish to run/walk in memory of those who have passed away or indeed are presently suffering will be held once again with November 20th being this year’s date .
November historically and traditionally is a period which we in Ireland indeed internationally have set aside to remember loved ones that have died .
The thinking is clearly an attempt to remember to do something meaningful to raise funds for a relevant charity of ones choice or alternatively just sign the white boards,a wall of Remembrance in memory of .Registration is 10 euro each or €30 for a family of 4.
The venue and race /walk route is from the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar start time 11 am with pre registration by dropping in to Finn Valley Centre in the weeks previous or simply enter on the day.
The course which is fast and flat takes in the scenic surrounds of Drumboe Forest returning to Ballybofey via Glenfinn Road to finish on the Valley track . In addition to the money raised for charity which is an individual/ family decision the registration fee goes towards underage athletics to support same and purchase sportshall equipment.
Additionally a draw will be made on the day to decide a preferred group for a donation from the run funds in recent years it was St Vincent De Paul and Caolan Melaugh fund. In a way its a link with the past and supporting the future a novel social event with encouragement to family groups to come along run ,walk, jog.
There will be refreshments of course afterwards . Facebook site Remembrance 10k /facebook why not log in Like and Share. Enquiries if required to finnvalley1@gmail.com.
