Parents across the county who are struggling with childcare costs could be eligible for a reduction if they qualify for support schemes.
The Donegal County Childcare Committee are encouraging parents in receipt of certain benefits or participating in a training or employment scheme to find out if they could benefit from either the Community Childcare Subvention programme (CCS) or the Training Employment Childcare programme (TEC).
Am I eligible?
Those in receipt of or taking part in the following schemes could be eligible:
- Social Welfare payment (e.g. back to education allowance/family income supplement, etc.)
- Medical Card or GP visit card
- Community Employment (CE) scheme
- ETB/SOLAS training programme
A full list of eligibility requirements are available on the DCCC website: A Parent’s Guide to the National Funding Programmes 2015-2016.
Alternatively, parents can contact DCCC on 074 91 23442 and discuss their circumstances with a member of the team, who will advise on the programme most suitable to their needs.
How do I apply?
Parents can apply for the support schemes directly with their early childhood service. A full list of early childhood services is available from DCCC here: Childcare in Your Area.
How much discount will I get?
The discount available depends on the scheme parents may be eligible for and their personal circumstances. In some cases, parents may receive a 100% subsidy on their childcare costs from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
