Kerry Katona has revealed details about her romantic proposal from Brian McFadden, when her now ex-husband got down on one knee during a visit to Donegal.
The former pop star visited Ireland with her boyfriend Brian three weeks after they met. He took her to Doe Castle, where he told her a nostalgic story about his grandparents’ proposal before popping the question himself.
Kerry will be reminiscing on this life-changing day on an upcoming episode of TV3 show Living with Lucy. The programme, which airs on Tuesday 4th October at 9.30pm, will see the former Atomic Kitten singer welcoming Lucy Kennedy into her home near London.
Lucy set out to get to know the mother and singer behind the headlines, which led her to ask the important question about her relationship with former Westlife member Brian McFadden. Kerry recalled meeting Brian’s family before their trip to Doe Castle.
“He said ‘come on I want to take you somewhere else, I’ve got one more trip’, and we pulled up to this castle, Doe Castle in Donegal, and he said ‘do you know why I’ve brought you here, this is where my granddad proposed to my nan and they were married all their lives’. And he got down on his knee and he opened a box and there was a ring, just a round ring and it was white and gold with five diamonds in it, he asked me to marry him and I just said yes,” she said.
The couple were married in 2002, and had two children before divorcing four years later.
Kerry will be opening up about other parts of her personal life on Living with Lucy, including her depression, bankruptcy, marriage breakdowns and living with fame from the age of 16.
