There is widespread dismay among many first-time buyers, following a report which indicates the sharp and rapid increase in the price of homes in Donegal.
Property prices have inflated nationally by 6.7%, the report which was published by Daft.ie – shows that Donegal has seen an increase of 10% in just three months.
House prices from July-September have increased by a whopping 10%, which ultimately priced many prospective first-time buyers out of their dream home.
The report also revealed that the average cost of buying a home is €140,000.
There have been calls from economic experts who have called on the Government to do more to assist first-time buyers get a foothold on the property ladder.
The most worrying aspect of the report, is that property experts are expecting house prices to continue to rise in Donegal, and the rest of the country.
Ireland is one of the most expensive places in the EU to buy property per capita.
