Buncrana GAA Club Notes:
BUNCRANA SENIOR FOOTBALL:
This was a great week for Buncrana Senior Football. Although fighting a relegation playoff they showed true class in a comprehensive win over Naomh Colmcille of Newtowncunnigham. Buncrana were always in control of this game and with Jigger on form with 1-2 and Odhran Doherty contributing 3 points not to forget Oisin Doherty with the main scoring tally of the day, Buncrana ran out 1-15 to 0-7 winners.
A day like this was only made better with the success of Division 2 football in 2017. Promotion for our senior team in a massive achievement and a statement of great work by both our players and our new management team headed up by Robert Farren. Well done Robert and all this team!
U9 Inishowen Football Champions:
Under lights in the Scarvey on Friday night saw the conclusion of the Inishowen U9 tournament. Our boys lined out against 2 strong and physical Glenswilly Teams. With a disappointing start with our development team missing out narrowly to win their game, gave our other team the push they needed to get over the line and retain the U9 Donegal Animal Hospital Cup for a 2nd year running….With Co-captains Jack Guilfoyle & Shay Coyle receiving the cup on behalf of the team from County Captain Michael Murphy added and extra bonus to these boys night.
A big Thank You to Marty Coyle his coaches, the parents, Inishowen GAA & Inishowen GAA without you nights like this wouldn’t be possible….
MAN OF THE MATCH U9- Padraig McGonigle

U13 Footballers:
Our U13 footballers got their much needed victory against Malin on Sunday Morning in Malin. With a great preformance from all team members and although at half-time they were comfortably ahead with 07 points Malin never gave up with Buncrana conceding a 3 point win 0-13 to 1-07….Team Oran Mc Bride, John Jackson, Shaun Doherty, Ryan Doherty, James O Hagan, Pauric Doherty, Michael Bernard Mc Laughlin, Jamie Mc Daid, Caolan O Neill, Kevin Jordan, Oisin Kelly, Cillian Downey, Oisin Crawford. Subs Oisin Porter and Niall Breslin
U16 Hurling
Buncrana u16 hurlers suffered defeat by the narrowest of margins in Burt on Thursday night last in the Donegal league final.
The match against rivals St Eunans was played in heavy rain but the standard of hurling played by both sides especially in the first half was exceptional. An early first half goal proved costly in the end as St Eunans started the brighter and raced into a lead but the Scarvey boys steadied the ship and with the leadership of the senior players in the squad rowed back in the score, Oisin roe at full back began to dominate and John Vaughan gave a master class in teak tight defending,
Niall O Doherty team captain lead by example and chipped in with 0:8 points in total during the game, at center forward Arron Craig began to get into the game having missed most of the season throw injury and he will be happy with his total of 1:3,Tom mc Laughlin and Gabhan Kelly also scored a point each.Buncrana lead at half time by 2 points.
St Eunans were the better side second half and just about deservred the result ,one of the younger players deserve particular credit for there performance, David Carey was simply outstanding for a boy his age, a dedicated player with a great attitude to his sport,This squad with the right attitude to this defeat can record a favourible result against the same side in the Scarvey in the Championship semi on Thursday the 6th Oct, but it will take a massive effort by all the squad.
