The boyfriend of the young woman killed in a road tragedy outside Ballybofey has spoken of how she had dreamed of becoming a beautician.
Kiara Baird, 19, was killed along with her pal Maria Wallis, 38, when the car in which they were traveling crashed on the outskirts of Ballybofey on Wednesday afternoon.
Devastated John Brennan, of Crumlin in Dublin, has told how his life has been torn apart after Kiara’s death.
The couple began dating in November 2014 after being introduced by friends.
“I just don’t know what to think or what to do. I’m going around in a daze. I honestly thought we had a future together.
“We had gone through a rough patch but Kiara was coming down to see me in Dublin every Wednesday and I would go up to see her in Donegal.
“We had so many laughs together and I honestly thought we would have a future together but that will never happen now,” he said.
John, 23, said Kiara had dreams of becoming a beautician and wanted to start a course in beauty treatment.
He said he does not hold any ill will towards anybody following Kiara’s death.
“Kiara was a beautiful girl inside and out. Nobody spoke a bad word about her. All the things that were posted on social media spoke so highly of her.
“She wanted to be a beautician – that was her dream. And she would have made a great beautician because she was so into her make-up,” he said.
John said he is traveling to Donegal for Kiara’s funeral which takes place on Sunday next, the day after her pal Maria is laid to rest on Saturday.
Kiara’s grandfather Declan paid tribute to her, as he came to terms with the shocking news in his Clondalkin home.
He said Kiara had moved with her mother Tracy and her three siblings to Donegal around six years ago to make a better life for themselves because Tracy did not want to bring up her children in Dublin.
Gardai have appealed for anybody with any information on the crash, which happened on the R252 just before 4.30pm on Wednesday to contact them at Letterkenny Garda Station.
